On her 10th birthday, an unwanted orphan girl discovers three things:
1. Her real name — Flynn — is tattooed high on the back of her neck
2. Her parents died in a terrible fire
3. She has a twin, alive and at a boarding school nearby.
Her plan to get herself banished there backfires, and instead she finds herself at the eccentric School for Nobodies, run by the redoubtable Miss Cruet and by Mr Gold, a former Circus clown. Flynn must battle trickery, temptation and treachery to reveal the secret of her true family, discover her gift, and find her lost twin — in the one place she never dreamed of looking.
