The Effect Of Excellence

Excellence and Honesty

One of the things you may have heard me talk about recently is the fact that I like to keep a journal and study a lot of self-development and personal development stuff.

But I like to relate it to my life, so when I'm reading a good book or something that inspires me, I'm not just taking notes on a lesson learned, I'm actually thinking and reflecting on areas where I could have used that lesson or anticipating new times when I could put the lesson into practice.

And recently it occurred to me to do a little mental audit over my last five or six year period, which is essentially the time when I really got into self-development, self-study.

Before that I was totally unaware, I never really considered studying myself or doing any form of personal development. I wasn't even aware that people were doing it. So when I got into that, a lot of things in my life have changed, especially my career and even the way I deal with my family and everyday life.

But one of the things about this mental audit is that I was looking back over the last five or six years and analyzing the times when I was most alive, let's say, happiest, where I really felt most positive most often, and there are two distinct times that stand out in my mind. The first was when I first got hooked on self-development, personal development, self-help books, because it was such a new thing and there were all these new lessons to learn.
