#187 Jameela Jamil: A Revolution Against Shame

Listen in app
My guest today is the brilliant Jameela Jamil who first burst on to the broadcast scene in 2008 as co-host of Channel 4’s Freshly Squeezed and T4. In 2013 she became the first female solo presenter of Radio 1’s The Official Chart Show and was an award-winning columnist too.

In 2016 Jameela made her move to the US, where she was cast to play the role of Tahani on NBC’s THE GOOD PLACE. The show has won both an AFI Award, a Critics Choice Award and even nominated for a Global Globe.

In 2018 she launched a movement and social media platform called @i_Weigh which encourages people to feel empowered, refuse to be shamed and be appreciated beyond the flesh on their bones. The movement has been recognised by both media outlets and has almost half a million followers on Instagram. It's growing rapidly and she is turning it into a company.

Hope you enjoy this episode. I really love following Jameela online for her apologetic campaigning while also taking time to listen and learn from those around her. Do follow @i_Weigh on Instagram for more info - they've also just launched a brilliant new IGTV interview series with the first guest Sam Smith. See you next week!
