It’s Oscar night in Hollywood, and media darling Meredith Johansen has taken home a gold statue, while across town rookie Detective Patricia Norelli works late with hopes of breaking through her own glass ceiling in the LAPD.
Their paths collide when Johansen is found dead in her Bel Air home, only hours after The Oscars ended. With a note but few clues, authorities rule it a suicide. But Norelli’s instinct says murder; a hunch worth laying her career on the line to prove otherwise.
As a long list of suspects emerge, she and her partner become entangled in a series of lies. Soon, Norelli gets too close to the truth which brings her face to face with a psychopath.
If you like Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch, you’ll like Temple’s Patricia Norelli.
