The Woman is a short story written by Alice Dunbar, an African-American female writer and political activist.
During the late 19th century, it was still unusual for women to work outside of the home, let alone an African-American woman, and the journalism business was a hostile, male-dominated field.
When someone decries our celebrity obsessed age remind them that the worship of celebrities has been around for quite a long time.

Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) was a Russian physician, dramaturge and author who is often referred to as one of the seminal figures in the birth of early modernism in the theatre. He made no apologies for the difficulties he posed to the readers, insisting that the role of an artist was to ask questions, not to answer them.
