“On the track of Ulysses; Together with an excursion in quest of the so-called Venus of Melos” by William James Stillman was originally published as a magazine article for Century Magazine after being commissioned to take an archaeological cruise on its behalf. In doing so, Stilman was able to make some particular observations regarding debates in the archaeology world. Namely, the nature of the Venus of Melos temple. Indeed, his work has been widely considered an extremely important addition to the field. Thanks to literary preservation, students can continue to study his writing even today.
