“You do know the element of surprise only works once, right?” Pippa mocked.

“Oh, shut up,” Rory replied and went for another blow.

With Pippa, though, Rory wasn’t sure if she even wanted to win in the first place.

“Sorry I’m late!” he announced loudly.

Ella resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

“I feel like you’re being a little unfair,” he finally said, leaning on the counter next to her.

“Girl walks into class with a needle the size of her arm, furiously knitting a pink scarf, you’d notice too.”
