Jim Algie has been a punk rock musician, a journalist, a wildlife conservationist and a security guard in a lunatic asylum. A resident of Thailand since 1992, he has contributed to many travel guides and authored Tuttle Travel Pack Thailand. His feature stories have been published around the world in publications such as The International Herald Tribune, and his short fiction has been included in anthologies, like the Bram Stoker-winning Extremes 2: Fantasy and Horror from the Ends of the Earth. His non-fiction collection Bizarre Thailand: Tales of Crime, Sex and Black Magic illuminates the country's dark side and its strangest tourist attractions. A collection of his prize-snagging short fiction, The Phantom Lover and Other Thrilling Tales of Thailand, was published in 2014.
