'A fascinating look into a part of marine life that is essential to humanity’s very existence and future' Sturla Henriksen, Former Ocean Advisor to United Nations Global Compact and author

'Plankton are the silent saviours of our ocean, essential for its health and its well-being. This book reveals their origins at the very beginnings of life on Earth, their extraordinary diversity, exceptional beauty, and vital functions for assuring life as we know it on our planet' Chris Bowler, Biologist

'Finally, a book that showcases the diversity and wonder of some of the earth’s smallest and most important creatures — the plankton' Abigail McQuatters-Gollop, Professor of Marine Conservation

Vincent Doumeizel uncovers the hidden connections between these largely unknown organisms and life on our planet. Readers will be surprised to discover that plankton represents 90% of ocean biomass and is the source of life on our planet. It is responsible for oxygen, our rains, the rocks, our cliffs, our food, as well as our climate. The Power of Plankton explores plankton’s unlimited horizon for innovation…

'There are more plankton in the ocean than stars in the sky. Despite their exceptional biodiversity and the critical roles they play in the global ecosystem, plankton are greatly under-represented in international discussions pertaining to the sustainable blue economy. This book takes readers to a better understanding of why plankton is key to a resilient future for all' Peter Thomson, UNSG’s Special Envoy for the Ocean

'A sharp and insightful exploration of some of the world's most overlooked wonders, The Power of Plankton reveals how the smallest organisms may hold some of our biggest solutions to climate change' Natalie Kyriacou OAM, Author, Founder & Chair at My Green World
