Anne of Green Gables is unique in her own right- it is a bildungsroman chartered as chronicles of the most interesting, awe-inspiring and memorable stories of an orphan's journey to find acceptance and love. Anne is a lovable character that is admired by little, big, young and old girls AND boys worldwide, and it is very easy to see why. Her character isnt perfect, she's relatable. Her stories resonates with a lot of people in the world who has had beautiful, adventurous, unique childhood. And an inspiration for those who are going though it to go out and make an adventure for themself. I admire Anne for her wit, her ability to learn from mistakes and avoid the same mistake a second time, and her resistance to conventional, inconvenient ideals of the her time. The turns of phrase from Lucy Maud Montgomery pulls you deeper into throes of the story, so deep that you can actually feel yourself as a burgher of her fictional town, witnessing first-hand the scenes in the book. The imagery she uses, they're amazingly extraordinary. The way she paints the picture of the countryside and the seasons that pass by it is so detailed and yet so lyrical, so poetical. I am in love with the way she writes.
