In Part one, Dr. Hunter looks back at the massive shift in our morals during the 20th century, with a nostalgic appreciation for the past. He describes the power of propaganda and Orwellian influence, as well as the power of art and literature to defeat the lie, with specific reference to artists such as Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
While the author expresses concern about the present, his Christian faith and knowledge of artificial intelligence make him a believer in our future.
The stage is set for the next stage of evolution. If the next generation can team up with thinking machines there is possibility to reach a higher spiritual and material ground than we've ever known before.
Part two Is an historical and philosophical exploration of sacred texts, primarily those dealing with Christianity but also including Eastern religions such as Buddhism. Major emphasis is on the work of St. Paul.
The influence of modern social science, such as Organization and Community Development, as well our longstanding problem of racial turmoil is a major focus: The social impact of America's “peculiar institution,” slavery, and of black leaders Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.are highlighted.
