This book is very much useful for the first year students of B.V.Sc. course in veterinary colleges all over India. Veterinary Council of India recently changed the syllabus for the veterinary undergraduate students so as to make uniform veterinary curriculum. In this circumstances, Biostatistics and Computer Applications, a course in the first semester seems to be a tougher one for the below average as well as average students. At present, there is no single book available to cover all the topics. A student should go through at least six to eight books which were all written in very high standard of English. Students studied in vernacular languages in their school may need a book like this one in simple English, covering all the syllabus. This book deals with collection, classification, analysis and interpretation of data, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, probability, tests of significance, ‘t’ test & ‘F’test, ANOVA, design of experiments and probability distributions. The basics of computers, parts of computers, software and computer languages, their scope and limitations were explained in the second part of the book. This book is also useful for post graduate students of Animal Genetics and Breeding to face National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by Agricultural Scientists Recruitement Board (ASRB), Veterinary graduates who are pursuing competitive exams conducted by State Public Service Commissions and Biology/Veterinary graduates preparing for Union Public Service Commission.
