After thirty years of people watching and collecting stories at social events, I would recount some of these stories and friends would say you should write a book, so finally, I have. Next time you visit a public house, hopefully after reading this book, you will have an insight into what is happening. When the conversation stops as you enter, it is not necessarily you; other customers may be checking that you are not the person they have been talking about. You will have an insight into why people move from one room to another, or couples are not what they first appear, to mention a few. My last job before I entered the pub trade was a lock keeper on the Shropshire Union Canal. Afterwards, I wrote a book called “A Towpath Guide To The Birmingham And Liverpool Junction Canal” (which was the section of the SUC I worked on). I wanted people who only travelled on the canal once to benefit from the knowledge I had gained over 12 years. The publisher did not pay me any royalties, so I am not sure how many benefited from this knowledge, but it is still for sale on Amazon. I hope people who read this book enjoy it as well as learn from it.
