Fantastic.
Spooky and ruthlessly realistic, this book is a real treasure. Ambivalent characters and Japanese folklore in the background – are among the top things I love about it. The list runs on with the general atmosphere the story creates: scary (I couldn’t read in the dark, which is my habit!) yet with a shadow of redemption and forgiveness hovering beneath the ending. It keeps you on edge, and it keeps you wanting more.
This is my second favourite book now.
