He had so much to teach her, she thought, about love and trust and wholehearted acceptance. She wanted a lifetime of being with him and giving him all the joy one man could possibly endure.

“We were drawn to each other from the first. We were meant for each other. I think we’d have come together even if we’d been born on different continents. You feel the attraction as strongly as I do.”

“We’re alike in some ways, you and I,” she murmured. “Pride, temper, and obstinacy. You’d move a mountain to get what you want…but you, my poor brute, don’t even know where the mountain is.”

He had never suspected it would be like this, that someone else’s happiness would mean so much more to him than his own.
