The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God. Who inspired holy men of old to write the scriptures. Through the illumination He enables to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts of sin, of righteousness and of judgement. He calls men to the saviour, and effects regeneration. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His Church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the assurance of God to bring the believer into the fullness of the statute of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.
«Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, l would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to undy, that no man speaking by the spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
" Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
“ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirit; to another divers kind of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”(1 Corinthians 12:1–11)
