Bhutan has made extraordinary progress in building its economy while preserving a vibrant cultural identity and pristine natural environment. As the economy continues to grow and renewable energy generation expands, Bhutan is taking progressive steps to ensure the benefits of growth are distributed equitably across the population. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been in partnership with Bhutan since 1982, with more than $927.61 million in approved cumulative grants, loans, and technical assistance initiatives. As of 2020, ADB remains as the country’s largest multilateral development partner. This publication highlights how ADB and Bhutan are working together to achieve more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient growth.
