Tommy Grovetown was bred to the job of sheriff. He had seen his father do the job for three decades and knew exactly what he wanted to do now that he was sheriff. He had decided long ago to do things differently from his father. He would be a man who owed nobody for his election, he would be a sheriff that earned the respect and trust from the community.
With his father looming large and ever present Tommy knew what needed to be done and vowed to himself do it. In trying to understand his own unhappiness Sheriff Grovetown searches his memory and his past for answers. The search leads him to a tangled web of power, politics and corruption. As he struggles to fight the influences within rural Jefferson County, Virginia he realizes that he must overcome his own internal demons and find a way to erase the past, or at least bury it so deeply that it could never be found if he is to achieve his own measure of success.
