The Illuminator's Breath

Florence, 1478.  Sister Esme Costanza, a gifted illuminator, wields more than brushes and pigments within the hallowed halls of Santa Maria degli Angeli.  Her art is a weapon, each gold-leafed flourish, each lapis lazuli swirl, a potent ward against *malocchi*, insidious shadow demons lurking in the margins of the Renaissance. Into Esme's cloistered life strides Lorenzo Tornabuoni, a charismatic printer and freethinker. He sees the press as a beacon of enlightenment, while Esme views it as a gateway for the demonic.  Their initial clashes are a fiery dance of faith and reason, tradition and progress, yet beneath their intellectual sparring, an undeniable attraction ignites.  As whispers of demonic influence escalate into chilling realities, Lorenzo’s skepticism crumbles.  He witnesses firsthand the insidious power of the *malocchi*, turning the city's newfound literacy into a weapon of fear.
