Do try to learn and not repeat self-destructive patterns. You don’t want to be one of the walking wounded

I vow that under no circumstances will I become intimate with anyone I meet until after an absolute minimum of forty days.

It is easy to be kind and gentle to our mates as long as we are in love with them. People who can be in love with someone else but still act in a loving, respectful manner toward their mate have learned to behave in harmony with the law of karma.”

    1. Write down any tendency you have to overindulge in addictive things: alcohol, drugs, food, sex, cigarettes, gambling, the need to control, to name a few.
    2. Every day for seven days note how these problems are affecting your life. Be honest. Just a few sentences at the end of each day will tell you if you are in control of yourself or not. (If you are too hungover, high, or coughing too hard to hold a pen to write, you are out of balance big time.)
    3. On the eighth day read what you have written over the past week. Do you notice any pattern? It should be clear if you have an addiction. Interestingly, most people do have some form of addiction.
    4. Make a list of what you’d like to quit. Now you should be ready to decide which is the most important addiction to overcome at this point in your life. Underline it! Do not try to force yourself to tackle more than one challenge at a time. You will defeat yourself if you make things too difficult. At this point you must begin to act upon your decision.

Seven is the number that is known as the source of all change. In this exercise, seven days should be the proper time you need to face the fact that you have a problem.

Patience and tolerance are two of the best weapons against hatred

    1. Think before you act.
    2. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
    3. Don’t take things that don’t belong to you (for example, spouses, jobs, bank accounts).
    4. Your soul records every action. You can’t get away with anything.
    5. You get what you earn, so work for love, security, and balance.
    6. Revenge returns itself upon the avenger. Never seek vengeance.

I see more bad karma than good when my behavior is more selfish than selfless.
