A wealthy uncle comes to visit and soon after sends for Spencer to live with him in San Francisco. Spencer arrives at the huge mansion and learns that his uncle has been in a terrible accident in a foreign country, and can't be reached.
The uncle, however, had arranged for him to have tutoring and physical training.
He meets others his own age and becomes close to Elsa and Tomas his uncle's housekeeper and gardener-handyman.
Incredibly, they discover a plot by terrorists to blow up the Golden Gate Bridge. Try as they might they can't convince the FBI or the police to believe them and are forced to take on the job of preventing it themselves.
