Книга рассказывает как философия поможет жить в удовольствие и уменьшить уровень тревоги. Местами немного затянута и повторяется, но стоит того, чтобы прочитать всю.

I would start with the book of Massimo Pigliucci (actualy, I did) before reading this book. His books is easier to read and it explains the basic principles of Stoicism very well too.
But William Irvine's work is more comprehensive, no doubt, and I like it.
The only annoying thing is repeating the same thoughts several times, as is customary in American books. But we are Stoics, guys, these are just details :)

In particular, he will be careful to set internal rather than external goals. Thus, his goal in playing tennis will not be to win a match (something external, over which he has only partial control) but to play to the best of his ability in the match (something internal, over which he has complete control).

e would be utter fools to allow ourselves to become upset by this fact, to go through the rest of the day thinking, “Oh, dear! That dog doesn’t like me!”
