You don’t know distance
until you’ve shared your bed
with someone who’s falling
out of love with you.

You want to know what it was? The moment I knew you were it? It was when I showed you the darkest parts of me, and instead of running away, you rolled out a blanket, lay on your back, and pointed out the stars.

The secret is to find someone who engages you deeply, to form a connection that goes further than desire or lust. It’s not enough to covet only a face or a body; true chemistry begins with the intellect and heart.

And in that moment
I swore
that nothing
in this universe
could be so heavy
as the absence
of the person you love.

When it comes to relationships, I have only one rule: give me truth, however cold or cruel or hard it is to hear.

They say you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone, but fact is, with you I always did. Not a day went by I didn’t thank the stars or worship the earth you walked on. That is real loss. To know what you have, to cherish every moment, and then watch it slip away.

That’s the killing blow. To know that someday, no matter how hard I fight it, I will forget how it felt to love you.

Real Loss

Everyone you meet has a part to play in your story. And while some may take a chapter, others a paragraph, and most will be no more than scribbled notes in the margins, someday you’ll meet someone who will become so integral to your life, you’ll put their name in the title.
