Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo has developed and refined a method of emoting through writing. 2Fish is a collection of intimate poems (and a few short stories) written by Chilombo from adolescence to adulthood, in no particular order. The book details Chilombo's thoughts in their most raw and honest form taken directly from a collection of notebooks she has kept since age 12.

I think I felt my heart physically more when I was reading some of these pages. I’ve been going through a heartache that I think I caused myself and Jhene’s music always helps, but not this time. So I started reading the book and crying me, I’m more open with myself than I’ve ever been, I think that’s a good thing.

Deep, spiritual, she is a queen and a walking example of light 💚 She is all and everything and no less 💎

Quotes

  • Lana Ránhas quoted7 years ago
    nights are colder
    days seem longer
pray it only makes me stronger
    stopping at green lights
    running the red
    mourning the living
    and envy the dead
    crying in silence
    thinking out loud
    i’m growing older
    and into a child

    i need more responsibilities
    to be more responsible
    is that how it works?
    is that possible?
    well it’s probably
    just me being me
    i’m always in need
    i’m impossible

    focused on the pain
    you miss the whole high
    you forget the whole feeling
    of wanting to die
