Billy Bland set fellrunning records in the 80s and 90s while working at quarrying, building and stonewalling in his native Borrowdale. His 1982 Bob Graham Round record stood until 2018 when it was, at last, surpassed by the phenomenal Kilian Jornet. First and forever though, he is a champion of his beloved Lake District and the people who live there.
