Hypnic Jerks follows seven years in the life of Sans Kingtrem, a young woman who lives with anxiety. After a failed attempt at university, Sans decides to become an English teacher in South Korea. Whilst there, Sans meets Sandman, a normal American boy, who helps Sans to control her anxiety and lead a somewhat normal life. When Max leaves, Sans’ anxiety returns and plunges her into a deep depression which leads her to kidnapping one of her elementary students from the school she works in.
These events are clouded by the opinions of Sans’ dead baby (Annie), Sans constant facts about the world, the taste buds in her vagina, and her inability to detach herself from her monthly periods.
