Excellence Wins

When we set out to be excellent in our chosen category and refuse to settle for anything less, even as the years pile up and the economy goes into a skid, we will achieve our dreams. The common myths of business will have been exposed for what they are and replaced with reality. The vision will have come true.

To quote a wise man from centuries past, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.”

Do with excellence what the customer loves, and the money will follow.

Passion has to align with the real world in some dimension.

If the public likes what you’re providing and the way you’re providing it, they’ll be willing to pay you for it.

But the more accurate truth is this: Do what the customer loves, and the money will follow.

The commitment to measuring and adjusting is not a luxury. It is essential to responsible leadership.

They emerge as we measure our realities and make adjustments, and then measure again and keep adjusting. No matter how good you are, you keep looking for hidden defects, and you keep moving a little closer to true excellence.

My version of that is this: “You won’t accomplish what you don’t measure.”

There’s an old saying that goes, “You can’t expect what you don’t inspect.”
