The Second Edition is shorter and easier to read. It leaves out much of the least important information. In addition it places more focus on Critical Thinking and adds a new concept — How we can learn with our brain turned ON. All too often, even the best students read a chapter or take notes during lectures with very little thinking. When they make a clear decision to focus on what they are doing — to think about what they are reading, hearing, or writing — they understand and remember far more.

This is the book I wish someone had written for me. It would have made my college years easier. I would have learned and remembered far more. While the book was written mainly for College Freshmen, along with any students in high school and college needing to improve their learning skills, it is also for readers of all ages who want to understand more about how people learn, understand and remember.
