In this first book of the series, Scott takes a poke at the follies of mankind, beginning in pre-history, and ending with the start of the Christian Era. He details the evolution of weapons, warfare, religion, money, then covers some of the more memorable characters of history. Alexander the Great, Romulus and Remus, Hannibal, Spartacus, Caesar, Pilate, and Nero, all are scrutinized and lambasted in Scott's delightfully dry style. Volume II of the series will take up where this book leaves off.
