The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is the book I chose because I enjoy reading about animals, mostly about dogs. I've never read any books coming from Mark Haddon, but following the main reason I wanted to read the book, I was expecting to read about the dog and its case, which was far from what was really going to happen in the book.
While reading the book, I highly enjoyed the way Christopher described his surroundings and how he perceived people and events. Christopher, previously mentioned, is the main character, a young boy who has Asperger and he tells the story from his point of view. I liked how he kept the story alive and entertaining.
It's a novel, focused mostly on mystery. The main theme is the death of the neighbors dog, and how the narrator, Christopher, struggles to find out who the killer was.
To conclude, I highly recommend this book having in mind that for me it was entertaining from start to end, and it did catch my attention, even-though i get bored easily. People interested in mystery should read it, knowing that the whole reason why the book was narrated was because Christopher wanted the truth to be revealed.
Great story. Must read
Интересный стиль повествования. Затронута серьёзная тема!
It has an unusual way of plot and writing style, which i enjoyed really.
Me encanto el libro. Lo recomiendo ampliamente
This is the type of book that makes me wonder if is ok to drop out a book. I really really tried to finish it!! But I just couldn't do it, I manage to read until page 100 but that was it, I drop it...
This is a book supposedly about an autistic kid, it may be implied but I don't know anything about the behavior of an autistic person so I first got the idea he had Behavior Issues, at the beginning the character remained me of Sheldon Cooper (from the Bing Bang Theory), this guy who is super smart but doesn't get the social interaction, it was until I started reading others reviews that I found out Christopher was autistic.
There are several things I dislike about this book:
1. He call other kids stupid and he was told to refer to them as "people with special needs", this makes me wonder if he is aware of his own condition...
2. Why is he allow to carry a knife??? He even refers this "... I take with me my Swiss Knife and if they hit me and I kill them I'll be self-defense and I will not go to jail"
3. The drawings... If the author wanted to add an realistic effect to the book, adding this computer-bad made draws didn't help.
4. Why was he allow to be out at the middle of the night?
...
Maybe I'm not part of the audience this book is made for, I think this is an 9-14 and I'm way far from that... but I don't think my daughter who fits that audience would read it.
I'll give it a star.
Very well :)
