'Hale's writing is beautiful, with a vivid eye for detail' Daily Telegraph

Anidora-Kiladra Talianna Isilee, Crown Princess of Kilindree, spent the first years of her life listening to her aunt's incredible stories, and learning the language of the birds. Little knowing how valuable her aunt's strange knowledge would prove to be when she grew older.

From the Grimm's fairy tale of the princess who became a goose girl before she could become a queen, Shannon Hale has woven an incredible, original and magical tale of a girl who must understand her own incredible talents before she can overcome those who wish her harm.

Shannon Hale has drawn on her incredible gift for storytelling to create a powerful and magical grown-up fairytale.

I felt in love with this story. This is the 3rd book I have read of Shannon Hale and the one that I think is the best si far (even if the others where written more recently).
The novel is developed around a fantastical element with a pretty well described background, the main character has a female powder definition that is also drowned in the need to discover her real self.
The story is about a princess Anidori-Kiladra, Ani, who developed the ability of speak with the animals and eventually with the wind but she struggles to do the same with humans. Since she was born her life is been impact by terrible events, one after another, throughout which she discovered the value of family, friends and love.
Is a 5 stars ⭐️ book for me, this is the first book in a series but I don't feel encouraged to read the others, I got a closure with this one and feel that I need to move on but maybe with time...
