Before the Second War, Beranonir knew only simple sorcery. Magic in those early days, magic was the preserve of the elite, those who could afford the education required to learn the art of sorcery.
During this time, sorcery was very much an environmental trait. It was something to learned, not something one was born with. Sorcerers used this early magic for simple tasks such as treating the sick and conjuring tricks for entertainment.
If a man had suggested that there would one day be a time when children could be born with the innate ability to perform not only magic, but magic more powerful than they could ever have thought possible, he would have found himself a pariah, mocked from the four corners of the kingdom in a heartbeat.
They did not know it at the time, but a forbidden romance would lead to one of the most important events in the history of Beranonir; the birth of the Schymian.
