God did amazing work, in the Belgian Congo, Zaire, and He continues to work through His own people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The world knows the land of Mary's ministry by these three names. But they are one and the same country in the center of Africa. Mary wrote to her family every week, (and her parents wrote every week) then later, every month to her sisters. It's from Mary's 1,050 letters of January 1953 to July 1992 that this book was unfolded. Evacuations because of political unrest and wars, were opportunities to trust God more and to learn new skills. Ellinore Ask lives in Houston, MN. Ellinore came to Houston as a teacher, married a local farmer and it has been her home for over 60 years. She is a member of the Houston Baptist Church where her main interest has been Christian Education and Missions. She has four children, 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Her husband, Carl died in 2002. Many of her family live close enough for her to see and enjoy them often.
