Matthew is the Gospel of the kingdom. So it is appropriate that he should open with a manifesto from the lips of the King Himself. This Sermon does the following:Explains the relationship between the present dispensation and the one that preceded it; Outlines the principles that are to regulate the lives of those who live in that kingdom; Warns all of the double danger of rejecting this King and His kingdom or of merely nominal adherence to it; Declares that the King Himself will pronounce the final destiny of men; Get to understand, appreciate, and obey this great Sermon. The authors warn against discounting it as law-keeping, or misunderstanding its relationship to the teaching of the Epistles. The view from the mountain top is magnificant.
