Kristen has been deaf her whole life. She lives on a ranch in Montana with her faithful dog Nickeli. Kristen comes home from school one day and is very discouraged because she got a bad grade on a spelling test. With the help of her family and the friendship of Nickeli, she comes to feel better about herself and realizes that she is more capable than she origianally thought.
