A basic top level look at solar power, for the person who doesn’t know too much about it, but is wondering if it’s something they ought to look into. This covers the basic costs of panels and inverters. It covers net metering, the reality of the cost savings or pitfalls. I also cover what to expect from the power company. I show you the economics to figure out if this is going to work for you. Whether it's not worth it or whether you should do it. It depends on where you live, how technically inclined and do it yourself savvy you are. I am an electrical engineer who has built a very cost effective system for my own home. You can do it too. You really can put together a good system for about $5000; panels, inverters, hardware and all. It is not as difficult as you might think. Give this a read, you'll be glad you did. One thing is certain, our electric bills are going to be increasing. You can protect yourself. Knowledge is power.
