Daddy-Long-Legs is a 1912 epistolary novel by Jean Webster. The story tells about Jerusha “Judy” Abbott, as she leaves an orphanage and is sent to college by a benefactor whom she has never seen. The mysterious man believes in the girl's talent and hopes she can be a real writer and requires her to report her success in monthly letters. In college, Judy is resolute to take the best of this chance, reads a lot, and tries to improve her talent. It is a beautiful classic rags-to-riches story that didn't lose its inspirational force through a century.
