John Yale is a ‘Yankee’, a typical cultured American, who makes an interesting study of the Swami — the monastic members, the set-up and functioning of the two-in-one spiritual organization, the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. It is always refreshing and educative for a well-established institution to be reviewed by a well-informed critic who is sympathetic to its aspirations and yet frank.
