Open your show with a nice warm welcome, tell listeners who you are and what’s coming up. Complete your recording and end the show with a request that people subscribe via iTunes etc, to rate your show, and check out your website for more information (i.e. to read your show notes and join your email list).

If you are able to see a visual guide to the recording levels as you speak, try and get them to bounce between minus 12db and minus 3db (–12db to –3db). At this setting, it will give you some headroom should you raise your voice a little.

What you don’t want is to record your voice at zero db – full volume. Because you risk ending up with sections being distorted – and there is nothing you can do to fix it,

do think about your target audience and pitch your delivery with them in mind as well as the content you are sharing.

Your intro really does set the scene for the podcast, but try not to fall into the trap of a highly polished, processed/loud intro that’s followed by a podcast that doesn’t match the loudness or quality of the intro – your show will sound flat by comparison.
