The goal of meditation is to slow down the frequency of your brain wave patterns from around 13–40 cycles per second to about 8–13 cycles per second. This is known as Alpha. We are primarily interested in the Alpha state, because while you are in this state it is easier for your subconscious mind to accept suggestions for change. This makes Alpha an incredibly beneficial state for learning and personal development. To enter the Alpha state consciously, all you have to do is relax and focus on your breathing. For the meditations in this book to be effective you should relax yourself into an Alpha state before you go through each meditation. You should also do the meditations often.
