Words of the Fathers offers a systematic arrangement of the themes that run through the Office of Readings. These are writings and wise instructions of Church Fathers and Saints; products of years of spiritual maturity and invaluable ecclesiastic teachings and exhortations. Rich as these readings are however, there is a lack of a reference or guide into their various themes in order to make for a more fruitful harvest of the several gems that they contain. Though they are organized into days and seasons in order to be used for prayers and meditations, the reader or user of the Office of Readings has no ready guide into a thematic organization of these deep reflections beyond the daily prayers. Words of the Fathers makes up for this lack, providing a thematic reference-tool for using these readings and amplifying them into a single thread of diverse themes. A useful reference work for personal mediation, talks, retreats, catechetical instructions etc.
