Money is critical and important for survival. The Scriptures say, 'money is a defence.' (Ecclesiastes 7:12). Money therefore is a powerful instrument. It is either you control money or money controls you. Money does not control you directly. It controls you through the things it can do for you. Due to the ability that money has to control, it therefore follows that if you don't make a conscious decision to submit money to God, it will usurp God out of your life and take the place of God.
In this book, the author gives a great deal of insight on money and how it can be used as a positive instrument in changing lives.

The above are just a few indicators of the love of money in a person’s life. There are probably more indicators. One thing is certain though, and that is the fact that the love of money will land you where you don’t want to find yourself. Be careful and be extremely watchful of every aspect of your life so that your life and value systems do not succumb to the love of money.

This is not a good stand to take. You see, someone that has the above attributes (decency, good character, etc.) combined with hard work will be comfortable or rich. It is only a matter of time.

You cannot tolerate those you consider inferior to you in status

Another symptom of the love of money is if you cannot tolerate domestic staff, waitstaff in restaurants and any other person you consider inferior to you because they do not have any or much financial muscle. Sometimes you see a lady who is very nice to her boyfriend but unpleasant to waitstaff in a restaurant. Anyone dating such a lady should run for his dear life as that lady has just shown a critical aspect of her character and values.

Money is not to blame. Money took on the hidden character of its owner.
