I press my lips to her forehead as her cry becomes audible, getting louder and louder. “Shh, baby. It’s okay.”

“Do you want to cuddle?”

Sometimes I don’t use the brain I’ve been given

Do you want to cuddle?”

He’s already massively testing my patience, and he hasn’t even opened his mouth. I’m sure if I punched him, I’d feel better. But thinking back to what Faulkner said about behaving, I take a deep breath instead. See? I can be an adult.

I could bow down at her feet and apologize, but I think she’d use it as an excuse to kick me in the head.

Your girl. She couldn’t be further from being my girl than she is now. She felt closer to being my girl the other night, but now I’m not even back to square one. I’m not even on the board.

She’s taught me communicating doesn’t mean everything is perfect, it doesn’t mean we don’t disagree. It means we work through the imperfect bit together, and if we don’t agree, we at least know why the other feels that way, even if it’s not going to change our minds. We’re still individuals, but we’re individuals together

“I love you, Nathan.”

“Come back to bed,” he whines loud enough for other people to hear. “No funny business. Just cuddle with me.”
