J.T. Kunkel is an American author best known for the Miranda Marquette mystery series and his stand-alone crime novel Under the Influence (2024). A passion for storytelling developed through a varied career in high finance and a lifelong love of music has shaped his writing journey.
Kunkel received his Executive MBA in Finance from Union College in 1980 and his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1978. Despite a successful career in finance, Kunkel has always aspired to be a novelist. He began his literary journey by writing a memoir after a serious illness, which sparked his desire to explore fiction.
Married to his best friend Susan for over two decades, Kunkel and his wife settled in central Pennsylvania after meeting in 1998. Their shared life experiences often inspire his writing, which combines personal narrative with compelling mystery.
His bibliography includes several titles in the Miranda Marquette Mysteries, such as Blood on the Bayou (2019), Chaos in the Canyon (2021), and the forthcoming Secrets in Silicon Valley (2024). His standalone novel, Under the Influence, follows thirty-year-old Cordelia Corbett as she returns to Point Pleasant Beach and becomes embroiled in a local crime while navigating a budding romance.
