Annaliese Avery

Annaliese Avery is an English fantasy and YA author, former library manager and children's book editor. Avery completed her MA in creative writing. She has a keen interest in physics and astronomy. In 2017, she founded an astronomical society.

Avery published her middle-grade debut, The Nightsilver Promise, in 2020. This book is the first in the Celestial Mechanism Cycle series. Its sequel, The Doomfire Secret, was released in 2022. Avery's young adult debut, The Immortal Games, was published in 2023.

Inspiration for The Nightsilver Promise came from Avery's interest in astronomy and mythology. She aimed to explore destiny and prophecy in the book. Avery combined science and fantasy in her writing.

Avery has expressed a preference for dragons in fantasy, citing Game of Thrones dragons as close to her ideal. She also mentioned The Neverending Story and "The Flight of Dragons as influences. Her fictional version of London in The Nightsilver Promise includes fantastical elements inspired by real-life experiences in the city's museums.

Her recent book, The Immortal Games, is about a 16-year-old named Ara. Ara wants revenge against the Gods of Olympus for her sister's death in the Immortal Games. Selected as a token by the gods, Ara faces challenges in the games. Her story involves survival and love.

Annaliese Avery lives in Suffolk, England.
