Chris Higgins

Chris Higgins is a British author of fiction for young people. She is best known for contemporary teenage stories set in the UK. Her books have won the Young Minds Award and the Lancashire Book of the Year Award. She has also twice been shortlisted for Queen of Teen.

Chris Higgins was born and raised in South Wales. She studied English and Drama and later became a teacher. She taught those subjects for many years in secondary schools. She also worked at the Minack, an open-air theatre near Land’s End.

After leaving teaching, she began to write full-time. She settled in the far west of Cornwall with her husband. Her home life has often run in parallel with her work with schools and the theatre. She has spoken about travel and making the most of life's opportunities.

Her debut novel introduced a voice that spoke to teenage readers. Later books continued to explore family, friendship, and change. Review groups in schools helped to bring her work to new readers. Her fifth novel, Love ya Babe, was later issued in paperback.

Chris Higgins continues to write for young readers. She lives in Cornwall with her husband.
