Doug Snelson

Doug Snelson is the award winning author of The Fable of the Snake Named Slim, a 32 page, rhyming children's picture book about a snake that wobbles instead of wiggles. Through a dramatic event Slim learns that being different can make the difference that matters the most. It is his unique gift that makes him special. The book is a tale of courage and individuality; of self discovery and self worth. Doug believes that children's books should be fun, interactive, and educational. His philosophy on story telling is based on the idea that children and adults should be at play as much as possible. Play includes two intertwined qualities--awe and concentration. Awe is the ability to see the beauty and wonder of life in anything and everything. Concentration is a focus on the joy of experiencing simple, everyday activities. The Fable of the Snake Named Slim was selected by the Mom's Choice Awards for excellence in family friendly media in the category of Children's Personal Growth & Development. It also received the prestigious Pinnacle Book Achievement Award by the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs in the category of Child Development. Doug holds a BS in Communications from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communications as well as a MA in Communications from William Paterson University. Doug is a former officer in the United States Marine Corps.
