Brian Prousky is a Canadian author who writes in the genres of literary fiction, exploring themes of secrecy, identity, and the quest for authenticity.
Brian Prousky was born and educated in Toronto. At the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, he earned a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) after earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Toronto.
Before fully dedicating himself to writing, Prousky held a number of positions within the social services sector. He was the Executive Director of Jewish Family and Child Service of Greater Toronto and was instrumental in improving the agency's impact on vulnerable groups.
Transitioning from a career in social services to full-time writing, Prousky gained insight into human nature. He has authored four novels, a collection of short stories, and two books of poetry, which reflect his diverse interests in music, sports, and literature.
Uriel Through Eleanor (2024), Prousky's latest novel, unfolds around Uri Katz, a World War Two veteran and cynic, who engages Eleanor to help write his memoir. Through his work, Prousky explores the nature of storytelling and the impact of history and memory on individual identity.
Regarding his last book, Prousky remarked on LinkedIn, "A writer before and after hibernating for 18 months to write a book. Was it worth it? Of course. Now available worldwide.
