Deborah Jenkins is a British author and teacher with interests in education, mental health, and community. Her short fiction has appeared in magazines and anthologies. She debuted with the novel Braver in June 2022.
Deborah Jenkins earned BA in Education, PGCE Primary, Education, and Psychology from Cheltenham Ladies College. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked in schools in the UK and Ankara, Turkey.
Jenkins has written textbooks for Macmillan, an article for The Guardian, a series of inspirational pieces, and a travel article. She has also published a novella, The Evenness of Things (2021).
Her book Braver was nominated for the Writer’s Guild Best First Novel Award 2023. Braver delves into the profound aspects of mental health, identity, and the fundamental human desire for acceptance.
She also writes a monthly post for a writers’ blog called More Than Writers.
Deborah Jenkins lives in Sussex.
