Ellen Lord

Ellen Lord is an American poet and behavioral health therapist specializing in addiction and trauma. Relative Sanity (2023) is her first collection of poetry.

Ellen Lord grew up in the western part of the Upper Peninsula. She attended The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and eventually settled in Charlevoix County, where she works as a behavioral health therapist.

Ellen Lord began writing as a kid, first stirred to poetry by Edgar Allen Poe’s Raven and various morbid nursery rhymes. She is inspired by forays in nature, along with feasts and oddities of the human condition.

Her debut book encompasses a long experience, from childhood through her career, marriage, and widowhood. Relative Sanity is about longing and redemption.

Ellen Lord is an active member of the Upper Peninsula Publishers & Authors Association, Michigan Writers, Haiku Society of America, Charlevoices, and Fresh Water Poets.

Currently, she is working on some elegiac poems about her brother, who just died.

Ellen Lord resides in Charlevoix County and Trout Creek, Michigan.
